Hai Guys!
yeah there is a connection with the title I swear! AND SO HERE IT IS ALL MY FELLOW BLOGIANS, the grand unveiling of the connection between the two things in the title. Plays and Musicals.
To start off with the first, Frankenstein:
I think to start one should start with the beginning and so the beginning is that in ninth grade my friend Hannah and I started the drama elective at our school DSST, it was the first elective that was a student run thing and was actually art based. So we didn't think it would amount to anything incredibly big, but this year they hired a drama teacher to come and teach at our school. We now are putting on the first ever production of Frankenstein: a modern retelling, written and directed by G.M Thompson. So that's where the first part comes in with all its grim and eerie awesomeness (come see it if you can this Friday or Saturday at Denver School of Science and Technology, five dollar entrance fee. doors open at 7 show starts at 7:30. its a blast!) And now for the second part.
Wicked. I again think to start I should start at the very beginning, for it is a very good place to start. I went to see the musical Wicked with my mother on April 18th and it was simply amazing. After the show she bought me a shirt. They were having this kind of raffle for charity (Broadway Cares is the name of it) and I managed to persuade my mother to buy one of the 20 dollar tickets. These tickets were to be able to walk onstage with the cast of Wicked on Thursday the 26th. I put my name is once, and a few days later received a call. I won. And so tonight I was on stage five times with the cast, I had a costume, I got two free tickets for my parents and I got to watch the entire show from backstage with the cast and crew of Wicked. I have so many stories from it. I got to celebrate Fiyero's birthday (Happy 22nd to Andy Kelso {Fiyero}) and had my very own dressing room area. I was treated so kindly by everyone and got suggestions on how to start being a part of the backstage or even onstage process through the DCPA.
So even though I missed Frankenstein's second production night I was able to be onstage with the cast of Wicked. I have pictures that I will upload when I find the gosh damn cord to my gosh damn camera.
It was the most amazing night, if you have any questions or want to hear a story or two, just comment and you shall receive.
Frankenstein and Wicked to everyone!
Peace in (not out) and keep on being Oddsome
